5 Signs Your Business Needs a Website (Even If You Only Sell on WhatsApp)

WhatsApp Business, Facebook and Instagram are excellent for talking to customers and closing sales. But they are rented ground: you do not control the rules, the reach, or whether the account survives a wrong report. A website is the one piece of your online presence you fully own. Here are five signs it is time to add one.

1. You answer the same questions every single day

Opening hours, price ranges, where you are located, whether you deliver, what sizes you have. If you are typing the same replies dozens of times a week, that is unpaid work a website does once, for everyone, automatically. Customers who can find the answer themselves at 11pm are customers who do not drift to a competitor who replied faster.

2. People cannot find you on Google

Search "electrician Douala" or "wedding cakes Yaoundé" and your business does not appear — because a WhatsApp number and an Instagram grid are almost invisible to search engines. Every day, people in your city type exactly what you sell into Google. Without a website (and a Google Business Profile pointing to it), those ready-to-buy searches all go to someone else.

3. Your catalogue lives in a WhatsApp status or a pinned post

Statuses vanish after 24 hours. Pinned posts get buried. Screenshots of prices go out of date and spread anyway. A website gives you one link where the catalogue is always current, organised, and shareable — and you can update a price in one place instead of re-posting everywhere.

4. Bigger clients ask for "your website" before they take you seriously

Corporate buyers, NGOs, hotels and schools often cannot put you on a supplier list without a website and a business email address. For B2B and tender work, no website is frequently a silent disqualification — you never even get the enquiry.

5. One account problem could erase your whole business

If your Instagram or WhatsApp got locked tomorrow — a hack, a false report, a policy change — how many customers could still reach you? If the honest answer is "very few", your entire customer relationship is sitting on infrastructure you do not own. A website plus an email list is the backup that keeps you in business.

You do not have to choose

This is not website instead of WhatsApp. The strongest setup uses both: the website is where people discover you, check you out and trust you; WhatsApp is where the conversation and the sale happen. The website feeds your social channels qualified people instead of leaving discovery to chance.

Start small — even a one-page site with your services, a few photos, a map and a "Chat on WhatsApp" button covers signs 1 through 4. Tell us what you sell and we will suggest the smallest site that would move the needle for you.
